Storing mountain house food and other types of food

I live with family atm, so space if kind of limited for me. With that said I do prep and do have some mre and a few cans of food. I want to get some mountain houses and some other types of food that I can use with water and just heat up. If I stored these lets say in a closet or under my bed how long would they last for? Would it be smart/ok to store them there?
