I Hate Poetry

Poetry is something I hate with a passion
Poets polish and dress it trying to cash in
Rhyming, not rhyming why I couldn't care less
Most poems, all poems are a god-awful mess
Quatrains, couplets, Rhythm, and verse
All terrible, in fact, they are the worst of the worst
Limericks, Haiku, free verse, and sonnets
Are things that just make me want to vomit
Poetry Slams or whatever they're called
There’s better poems on bathroom walls
Whitman, Dickinson, and Seuss scribbled drivel 
Over the meanings of which scholars quibble
In a few hundred words, no meaning is found
Dig a hole, and bury them all deep in the ground
Stop writing poetry, stop being a useless slob
Go to trade school, learn a trade, then get a job
Like welding!
