People who have put up posters for a missing cat, was it ever found?

In my experience, cats are rarely missing/lost, but rather the cat prefers someone else to feed them and not you anymore. Cats be ghosting people.

A random cat kept showing up my doorstep meowing so I fed it on the step outside. It showed up a few more times and I thought it was homeless so I kept feeding it. Then one day it was sitting on my step when I got home and when I opened my door the cat just waltzed on in like it lived there. I politely told it that it couldn't stay and brought it back outside. It ran across the street where its owner let it in. Those people would've thought their cat was missing when it just moved across the street. I guess it thought my house seemed more fun. Or maybe I had better cat food.

Yes. When I was a kid my cat ended up stuck on a balcony of an empty house. One of the neighbours had noticed him, thought it was strange then saw the signs and called us. My mum said she only put the signs up to make me feel better, but they worked.

Yes. I put up a poster on a lamp post. Sure enough, found that poster still there the next day.

Depends how close you live to wildlife. Think the coyotes get most of the missing cats around here.

Obligatory not me but... an old colleague was a crazy cat lady - way way way over attached to them but sadly one day one went missing.

For 2 whole years she kept the posters up, offered rewards etc. We strongly encouraged her to let go and accept it was gone.

Out of the blue one day she got a call from a random number about 200 miles away. Turns out this cat had jumped in the back of a workers van, he'd driven 200 miles home and discovered it and just looked after it. Then they were moving house and couldn't take the cat with them for some reason and put it up for adoption. In the adoption process it was scanned for a chip and boom, cat was returned!
