Lux vs. Akali

Hello guys! I've been playing Lux quite a lot recently and I have been enjoying it. Usually I manage to win my lane or if I am playing against Yasuo or Fizz I just sit under tower and farm and if they try to dive me it doesn't end well for them. Today I decided to play another normal game for fun and when I saw I'm against Akali I was a bit worried because I've never played against Akali but I thought I could do it if I play passively. Well pre-6 was easy but once she hit level 6 she jumped on me under tower and 1 shot me even before I could ult. The same thing happened 3 times in a row to the point where I didn't want to go in my lane anymore. There was nothing I could do and my team started calling me a feeder and said they'll report me. That was the most embarrassing game I have ever had as Lux. All my teammates won their lanes but in the end Akali was so fed nobody could stop her. I was 4/9 that game and all 9 times I was 1 shot by Akali under my tower. Do you guys have any tips on how to beat her?

Before lvl 6 you need to get at least 2 kills on alkali, or poke her so hard that she doesn't farm. Learn wave management to keep the minions away from her tower, and if they are near her tower just give up that wave. Ask for jg help, and when it looks like alkali mighty jump on you e on yourself proc e when they jump and q where she is. Then run. Going back a full turret isn't unheard of for me. Let your team know early that akali can make you go 0/10 with very little you can do about it.

Thank you!! I have been a support main for years now so wave management is definitely not my strong suit! I will definitely try to improve on that. And it makes sense since pre-6 it wasn't hard at all for me but after she hit level 6 she instantly killed me under tower which really surprised me.

Akali pre-6 isn't that weak. Sure you can deny her few cs, but overall due to her W and sustain she never dies to you unless she eats passive procs or Qs, or tries to push. And due to her W she'll have enough farm anyways.

Lux is pretty good into Akali tho, because Akali doesn't really oneshot her midgame (she needs more than one rotation), and the only time Lux is in range of Akali R is when it's teamfight, so Lux is protected by her teammates.

Small tip in case you didn't know, akali R always positions her behind the target( so it'll automatically out play your ult if you aim it in her direction) , so you can easily land your Q on her since you know exactly where she'll end up (the r is also a dash so she can be hit by your Q while traveling to you too) that's one of the ways I play it out with Ahri VS an akali, free charm if you can react fast enough. Exhaust is decent vs akali, barrier is good but exhaust benefits your team more when she jumps on your carry. Call for jungler ganks pre 6 on akali, she doesn't have any good escape and she doesn't have the damage to 100-0 someone with ignite at that point.

Thank you!! I didn't know that! The problem is, I could land my Q on her when she dashes but it doesn't do anything because she kills me before my ult animation is finished. I guess the real problem is I failed to shut her down pre-6. Also if I ever see her in ranked I am totally taking exhaust but since it was blind pick normal I couldn't have known I'd be against her.

Akali shouldn't be able to kill you under tower at lvl6. You should probably play Akali or watch TF Blade to understand how to play against her.

She shouldn't be able to poke you before 6 much, so at 6 you should be close to full health. Then, you should never stay in range of her R if you are marked by her Q, even if you are under tower. Her burst at lvl6 comes from Electrocute and double-Q proc, to oneshot you she needs to put a Q mark on you, wait her Q cd, then R you, proc her Q mark, use Q again, proc Q again, and then she has an E and second R if you're still not dead somehow.

She should never be able to execute the described combo against long-range mage.

You basically never try to 1v1 her after 6 unless she is so bad that you killed her before 6. So you never damage her (it's pointless, she'll be full health in few seconds), stay at 900+ distance from her (so she cannot W+R you) AND sometimes your minions (so she cannot R to your ranged minion, and then R you. You only really need to stay away from your minions if she is fed. If she is not fed, she shouldn't really be able to kill you without ignite if you manage your Q well and you have barrier and you're close to tower).

If she tries to freeze, you R the wave. If she pushes, you spam E on wave (trying to actually not lose cs while doing so, it's a hard job). If she roams, you spamping, push, but don't hit the tower unless you see her on the minimap. If you somehow know where she has gone (botlane for example), but you don't know where she is (no wards), since you cannot hit the tower after a push and you cannot follow her, you can roam in other direction (toplane for example), if you have wards there or you're not scared of their jng or you have your jng there. Basically I don't think she can interact with you after 6 if you don't want it. You are way more useful in teamfight.

Also I don't think it's a good idea to gank Akali mid, especially if she has flash. Sure if she is bad ask your jng, but if she seems decent, just let her lose to CC in teamfight. She has way too much ways of surviving a gank or even killing one of you 1v2 with her passive, W and R; you only commit to the gank if you or your jng hit CC on her, which should never happen against decent Akali.

Basically, since you have no problems against Fizz and Yas, I think that you just need to read her abilities and play few Akali games to get an idea where is her damage coming from, and how big her R and W+R range is. She is easier to play against than Xerath, IMO.

Thank you! I did try to poke her but she was able to instantly heal back up which is really frustrating. She didn't roam at all she was just pushing waves hard and waiting for an opportunity to R me or flash R me.

It's just a matter of time and you will realize how weak current Akali is, and how you actually has advantage as lux, VS akali.

Just land your snares and do not fight her when you miss Q. Just keep your distance and poke a little, then all out when you get reasonable AP. You can just as easily burst Akali as much as she can burst you, only diff is that you can do it in long range and she has to go close.

I have never played against an Akali mid, so... Should‘t happen again.

It happens more often than you think

I only see her top but here are my advises:

Its basically the same like Fizz, Zed and Yasuo. Pressure them hard before 6, dont let Akali outdamage you with q spam, get your mana item early and pre 6, just rely heavy on your Q. If she jumps at you and you should hit your q, you can all in her: Q + AA + E + R + AA.

If you are really scared of Akali then you could even early build an Sheen. Ofc after your mana item but Lich Bane has one of the highest AP stats under the common AP items nowadays.

If she isn’t too ahead then you should outdamage her at this point.

IF she is too ahead, then its the same as usual: damage limitation Abandon the lane and roam to bot, help killing shit or just help pushing, apply pressure on the map somewhere else.
