A sub for asking travel advice questions
Wondering the following: "Given the recent State Department travel advisory to Mexico (and specifically the closing down of the embassy & prohibition of US Gov Officials travel in Playa Del Carmen), should I cancel my trip in 2 weeks?"
Basically, my lady and I have booked a trip to an all-inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen for a week, leaving in 2 weeks. However, a few days ago, the State Department issued a travel advisory, and announced that along with US government officials being banned from travel to the area, but also that the embassy would be closed "until further notice." The Mexican government maintains all is fine and good. Our plans are basically to go to our all-inclusive resort, and just stay there the whole time (we do have 2 "excursions" we bought through Amstar, which I regard as highly reputable, one to Chichen Itza, and the other to Tulum -- both listed by the State Dept as safe places to go), so we're not planning on being out and about at all in town. I'm figuring we're probably safe, but I need a little outside feedback...
Thought about posting in either r/travel or r/askreddit, but neither seem like quite the right place. Any thoughts?
