[Top] Getting bullied and eventually losing lane

I am fairly new to this game (haven't played in about 2 years) and I tend to struggle early game. I usually play Maokai, Shen, or Malphite, and I always seem to get punished for trying to CS and I can't trade it well. Then in turn, I can't CS well because I am low and/or forced to back. Ultimately, I end up losing or even feeding my lane 7/10 games. Any advice for someone relatively new?
