Evictus Communications

Four workstations lined one wall in the Evictus comms center. The opposite wall was lined with computers and the half-dozen techs working them. Some of the equipment had been incorrectly updated, the rest was outdated.

Unfortunately, the outdated stuff worked better.

In the middle stood Lieutenant Jenkins. He knew a third of the computers were fried and half the workstations down. He found out whose fault the "upgrades" were, and that Lieutenant-Commander Chapperoni had died a gruesome death on his new assignment, no doubt saving him the effort.

Two of the techs moved to one of the two working consoles to log their process when the whole thing exploded into flames, consuming the screaming techs.

As Jenkins evacuated the rest, the automatic sprinklers kicked in, killing the fire and ruining the remains of the workstation. Jenkins sighed as he made the following announcement:

#Attention Evictus crew: due to a fire incident in the comms room, our capability is limited. Unfortunately this means all personal and media communications are restricted until further notice or on case by case exceptions. Please near with us.

After he turned of the broadcaster, Jenkins remarked to a tech: "This won't be the last we see of Chapperoni, I can tell you that much."

I took away your Wifi.
