[HELP] Diabetes

Hi there,

My 10 year old lab/Great Dane, Jude, was just diagnosed with diabetes. This breaks my heart because I feel as though it will dramatically shorten her life. I’m wondering if there is anyone else out there with a large diabetic dog who can offer some advice or general care tips.

My (human) brother is diabetic so I understand the general upkeep but not in relation to dogs. The vet gave us insulin and said 12 units twice a day and to test her ketones daily for the first month. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated so my old lady and I can have several quality years together!
