Health Care for Early Retires in Canada

A post over on r/FI got me thinking about health care when I retire early, I don't know much about health care at all because I've never really had to use it (I use my dental plan and that's about it). I figure being in Canada is much different than being in the states, so what options are available for Canadian early retirees and what kind of cost could I be looking at? Any help would be awesome, thanks!
