Can't stop thinking about Luv and Joi (spoilers)
The whole movie I was kind of waiting for Luv to strike back at Wallace in some way, or 'come around' to the replicants/K side more. I loved how much depth there seemed to be to her. I wasn't totally convinced she only wanted to be the best. Is it just me that felt there was more to her? I mean, she clearly shows some sensitivity at the start of the movie when Wallace was being a weirdo and treating her like she had no feelings (I don't get it, how could he be so blind to that? In fact, that was something that stroke me as odd from both Wallace and Lieutenant Joshi)
Then of course, I was surprised at how much Joi had won me over. At the start of the movie I thought it was just some gimmick they added to fluff the sci fi technology side of things. How wrong was I, what a brilliant character to write and such interesting concept. Does it matter that she wasn't 'real'? Obviously that relationship was one way, it was all abut how Joi could ensure she was doing and saying what K wanted, but because she had her own 'wants' in turn, it made it that much more interesting to me. She was devoted in a way I don't know if I believe would ever be 'real'. I guess the difference of real relationships is the selfishness that clouds our vision and creates strife. The clashing needs/thoughts. I don't know what the fak I am talking about, rambling!
Can't stop thinking about how these two characters had the biggest impact on me. I am so impressed with the acting and general character developments. They both fascinated me.
What are your thoughts?
