Pet Death
Earlier this morning, my boyfriends pet guinea pig passed away. Her name is Winnie and I’ve known her for the two years we have been together. It seems so dumb to be so upset by this. I’ve had family members pass away that I did not cry for, but for some reason the guinea pig got me. He came by this morning to tell me about the loss. His father took her to be buried out at his power plant. I feel so foolish and angry that I didn’t see her before she passed away. The last time I saw her was last weekend and she was fine. She licked me and let me pet her and I didn’t get to say goodbye. I don’t even really like those kind of pets. I think they’re very high maintenance and just not for me, but I really liked Winnie. She was the reason we even started hanging out. I’d make an excuse to come see him by asking to play with her. I’d take my sister and my cousins to his house and play with her. But now she’s gone. And there will be an empty cage and bags of Winnie grass that will be there until it’s cleaned up and all traces of her are gone. I don’t know how to deal I guess. I feel so bad. She was just a dumb lil squeaker whose tongue always was soft and now she’s gone. I don’t know if his sister knows yet, so no social media that can be traced to me. I guess I’m just sad and could use some advice. I never really had to face death much, the last time I was this sad over a death was when my own cat, Tangent, passed away 6 years ago. Any advice or anything is welcome. Thank you for reading this.
