[M4F] Past the Velvet Rope
Obelisk.
A name as imposing as the building itself, standing tall and impossibly dark, even against the inky LA sky at midnight. The innumerable round windows occasionally flash and glow, breaking up the blackness with the barest flare of red, blue, green, and violet. From within, music thrums, impossible to discern or escape from the outside.
Outside, however, is a different world. Bodies crowd the sidewalk, lined up well past the confines of the building and spilling into the street. Men and women in all manner of dress (and undress), all held back by coke rail thin man and a red, velvet rope.
Everyone wants inside, and it will only happen at his discretion. Wrong shirt? Next. Stupid haircut? Next? Doesn't like the look on your face? Next.
It's not all a beauty contest, though. Obelisk isn't about being beautiful. It's about being worthy. Fascinating. A part of the whole that exists only on the inside. It's about being an individual. Groups are frequently torn apart for this very reason.
No cameras allowed. No place on social media. Impossible to know what truly goes on inside. The stories that arise from exclusivity, of course, are legendary. Celebrities mingling with the public, unafraid of prying eyes. The endless availability of food, drink, drug, and sex. Most shocking to the sort of people who would be shocked by such things: the blatant openness of it all.
Most people will never know what happens behind these walls. You could well have been one of those people.
Until tonight.
My take on a modern day Studio 54. I want to play two strangers who both get in, what they see, what they do, and how they interact together and with the other patrons. There is a bit of world building to be done (a very small world, but a world nonetheless), so please come with ideas, both character and situation. I like to collaborate with good writers, not dictate to mediocre ones. Also, though I mentioned celebrities above, I have zero interest in a celebrity fantasy RP.
I promise I'm not as big a prick as this probably makes me seem. Thanks!
