Would charity ICO drops be a good thing or bad thing?
Rather than holding a traditional fundraising ICO or a airdrop, people would choose a charity, send some ETH (or any other currency) to the team designating a charity from some list the team pre-approved (Red Cross, food banks, Habitat for Humanity, etc), and the person would receive coins or tokens, and the charity would receive ETH.
Now obviously this would require trust in the team to actually give the money, or some portion of it, to the designated charities, but it would serve multiple benefits:
-
Users get coins/tokens from new ICO
-
Money goes to help out charities
-
Name of the token/coin gets out there because these charities start getting money and/or crypto from ICOs
-
If the charities are sent the money in the form of crypto, they’ll need to use it in some form or another to cash out to fiat, which increases usage of crypto.
