I'm planning to host. What is the best linen arrangement and laundry schedule?
So, I'm a few months off from hosting since we have to do remodeling work first, but I'm already starting to outfit the beds since I'm staying in the unit during the remodeling process.
This is a kind of gross question, but which linens do you wash and when? Sheets and duvet covers seem like no-brainers, but some people wash their pillows after each guest, some people use pillow and mattress protectors and wash those, some people wash the protector and the pillow, some wash the duvet every time, etc.
Quilts and coverlets seems like a pain to wash too, but I understand why it's a must -- but it seems like wool coverlets aren't options then. Would a cotton coverlet or a microfleece blanket like this make more sense? In order to lessen the laundry load, could it be left folded on a nearby chair or closet so it sees less use?
Here's a list of items that I have found that have solid reviews and decent prices. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
| Item | Quantity* | Price | Laundry Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mattress Protector | 1 | $70 for one | ??? |
| Flat Sheet, Fitted Sheet and Two Pillow Cover Set | 2 | $106 for two sets | Everytime |
| Extra Pillow Cover Set | 2 | $42 for two sets | Everytime |
| Duvet Cover (King Size) | 2 | $44 for two | Everytime |
| Duvet (King Size) | 1 | $38 for one | ??? |
| Cotton Coverlet | 2 | $56 | Everytime |
| Pillows (King Size) | 4 | $80 for four | ??? |
| Pillow Protector | 4 | $50 for four | ??? |
| *Quantity refers to the number of items per bed available to the host not to the guest. |
