Yes, I meant to spell SIWA this way. I’m an ICU nurse in the states and have worked the past four days straight. One of the patients I took care of was withdrawing from a life of daily alcohol use and was suffering from acute psychosis. We use what’s called a CIWA-A tool to manage the withdrawal process. It’s a scale used to determine how much sedative to give. Withdrawal symptoms can include everything from a low-grade fever and manic behavioral crises, to rampant incontinence and grand mal seizures (all of which the patient exhibited).

As I spent the last four days of my life dodging poo and urine while administering the ordered sedative (which seemed to have no effect), I finally got an answer to the biggest question in the Assassin’s Creed franchise: “CIWA will never know peace.”
