Buddhist triplet who lived on the hopi reservation: mind blown about your old ways
Can I just say, I stumbled across this place and HOLY FREAKIN SHIT YOU GUYS. THE SHIT YALL WERE INTO WAS. CRAY CRAY.
Multiple marriages to children? Something about not being able to be in those HUGE temple structure things unless you were of the faith? Suicides over the deplorable treatment of women and children? Going on missions to essentially prey on already weak groups to try to convert them in their hour of need?
GAWD DAMN. That is some...that is some shit right there. I am an odd one out for sure- I was raised in a white household but with my mom buddhist and my dad atheist and living in the hopi reservation for a long while I ended up believing in Kachinas more then Santa when I was a kid. (do you guys celebrate christmas- as in gifts and such? I heard somewhere you guys can celebrate birthdays or other festivities but could be wrong) I have an odd background- so christianity in general makes very little sense to me (no offense!) but wow- this was eye opening.
I again have very little information on what this is all about, but what little I know both fascinates and weirds me out. I want to understand more. How do you come to believe these things were right? What is the craziest theory the church believes in?
What pushed you to leave?
Sorry if I came across offensive in any way- that wasn't the intent. I am just gobsmacked!
