Claims of intentional feeding

In the last few days, I've had a couple of different teammates in hero league type in chat that they were feeding to throw the game because we were losing. The weird thing is that neither of them appeared to actually be trying to help the other team, they were just playing as poorly as the rest of us were, hence the losing. I don't get why someone would do this, even if someone was going to feed, why tell their team about it and get reported by four people instantly? Has anyone else encountered this?
