For the sake of your sanity, konmari BEFORE you move.

I only half finished the konmari process before we moved 2 years ago. It was a dreadful move. At first, it was okay. I carefully packed away my favorite things with love and care. But near the end, I started getting to the junk drawers and the closets that were filled with random things that didn't have a proper home. When it got to be too much, I had an emotional meltdown. I threw a tantrum and screamed like a small child. I'm usually good at regulating my emotions, but the clutter brought me to the breaking point. Unpacking was a nightmare as well. To this day, we have boxes of things we never unpacked because we don't know where to put them. I know we are going to move again in 2 or 3 years, and just thinking about those low points inspired me to start the konmari process over so I never have to go through that again.

If all of the joyless junk in my life was literally worth its weight in gold, I would still throw it out if it meant being less stressed and leading a more joyful life.
