How did WW2 affect countries that did not take part?

How big of a impact did WW2 have on those countries who were not directly involved in the war? Brazil, Argentina (South America in general) and the Southern side of Africa? Did people living in those countries carry out a normal life-style throughout? Were they even ‚bothered’ about the ongoing war?
