I Wish This Aspect of the 12th Doctor had Carried On Past Series 8

The gadgets! Yes, I know he had a couple other devices he used throughout his time on the show, but IIRC Series 8 is the only time we see him making the gadgets himself, with workbenches and tools and everything in the control room. I loved seeing that in Series 8 because while we've seen the Doctor use gadgets often enough, it's rare we actually get to see him make them specific for the situation, and I guess it just added an extra bit of personality to his Doctor that I feel was lost in Series 9. It's on my mind again after recently rewatching Series 8, and I really wish we got to see this aspect continue on. What does everyone else think? Are you fans? Or are you glad this aspect got dropped?
