[Spoilers C2E9] Gentlemen Theory

SpoilerDiscussion

I was just rewatching part of the episode when something one of the Town Criers clicked for me. One of them mentioned it was two weeks until the Harvest Close Festival, which by itself has no reason to mean anything other than there is a Festival soon.

However, add to that something mentioned during the Meeting of the Knights of Requital by Dolan Thrine (sorry if I killed the spelling of that name). He mentioned how his business partner wrongfully lost his physician practice and station to the House of Sutan, though how this happened isn't mentioned. Dolan does go on to say that the Son of the House of Sutan, Ren, took over that practice and is using it to drain money out of the people. While that sucks for Dolan, no mention of the Gentlemen here, just new players in the House of Sutan.

Now let's add to that the letter that Beau stole, originally sent to Demadan Baumbauch from the Gentlemen. It talks about receiving Bloodthistle.

Now what does all of this mean? It was mentioned how the three Brewery families of Trostenwald were trying to make a name for themselves so that their drinks were no longer just called Trosts. Simply poisoning any single batch wouldn't hurt the reputation of one of the three family unless it was the batch that was entered into some sort of major contest, such as one that will be likely to occur at the Harvest Close Festival.

Thus we have some information about how The Gentlemen seem to be ones that assist in destabilizing a competitors business for profit, and we have the Baumbauch's plotting to poison their rivals to remove them as competition and maybe the Mighty Nein will have the opportunity to foil them, as it seems this is a scheme that Beau has been on the edges of it for a while and dislikes the Baumbauch's.
