How did that happen?

So there is a person I talk to on WhatsApp. Till today, I wasn't able to see when he was last time online, but suddenly I can. We have been talking for weeks btw. How is that possible? Did the person enable that (if it's possible), or it has to do with something else?

Maybe that person saved me as a contact in their phone or its not that?
