[Discussion] Can the chat system be upgraded

Hello all,

I started playing POE in Harbinger, and I love this game! It's depth and game play are great.

I do have one thing that has stuck in my craw since I started. The chat system feels old and clunky. I dislike that simple things like reply to a whisper easily, or when you start a message with the sign for a channel it automatically puts you back into the channel if it's disabled. These are some of my main gripes, but in general it also just feels old.

I know this may seem like a nit pick, but for a game based around trading with other people it'd be really nice to have something that's more robust.

Does anyone else feel this way? Has the chat system evolved over time? Am I just screaming into a void?

Also: I understand that there are macros that let you do things like reply, but that's a poor solution. It should be built into the game.
