[META] Gauging interest in a Bi-Weekly Twitch Show about Custom Games & Hero/Item Concepts
Hey guys! Sorry in advance to the mods if you feel this is inappropriate, but with how dead this sub and the Discord have been I wanted to see if anyone out there is awake before I put effort into this idea I've had stewing for a while...
SO, some of you might know that I make hero/item concepts, and that I also have a Twitch channel where I've casted a little Dota. As much as I love casting Dota my real passion has always been for theorycrafting, and I've had this idea for a talk show about Dota concepts and custom games for years now. With Dota updates now coming every 2 weeks, I feel like now is the perfect time to try and engage our small community and start this project up!
In summary, the goal of this post is for anyone out there who would be interested in tuning in to give me your feedback before I record the first episode, hopefully by next week.
What?
The idea of this Twitch show is that myself and up to 2-3 other concept authors (forming a "panel") would record each episode live on Twitch (although the first episode will definitely be just me and not live). The general flow of each show would be the following:
-
Introduction
-
Recent Contest Results & Community Announcements
-
"Showcase": A segment where each panelist picks a concept or playable custom game that was newly released since the last show to show off
-
"Theory University": A segment where the panel all discuss a single topic relating to designing Dota concepts
-
Plugs/Closing: each panelist can plug one thing they're currently working on
I've been working on this format in my head but without panelists who see what I'm going for and want to participate, I feel like this format will be rather boring if it's just me. Which leads me to...
Who?
So far it's just me, despite having approached a few of my favorite community members to participate. Most of the people I've contacted expressed a reluctance to appear (either in audio or video) on Twitch. The goal is for panelists to be well-known community members with a sizable stable of concepts and experience to draw on, although depending on how things go I am willing to have weeks where we open the show up to anyone, such as relatively new concept authors.
When?
For now the goal is to record a new episode every other week, during the weeks when there is not a Dota update. Unless there are scheduling constraints I will most likely aim for Thursday evenings (EST time zone). On alternating weeks there are Patch Reaction shows on my channel that follow a similar format, where anyone watching at home can call in and give their thoughts.
Feedback / What can YOU do?
So if you've made it this far, please take the time to comment with your reaction to my idea. Even if you just feel that no one will watch this, that would still be useful feedback. If you would like to suggest a segment, a panelist, or a concept for me/us to cover in our first few episodes, please feel free to comment below or PM me as well! If you would like to approach me about appearing as a panelist yourself on the show, please do so via PM.
Thanks for your time, and when the time comes, if you would like to tune in, I will be announcing the first episode on my Twitter when the time comes. Should be next Thursday if my plan works out.
