[ST:TNG] Is Dr. Polaski specist against Data?

In the first few episodes of the second season, Dr. Polaski is really mean towards Data. She keeps making snide comments, talks like he's not there, and denies his sentience to his face. She even joins in on a plan to humiliate him proving that he can't have original thought. He's simply a computer that can't do anything but compute.

What's up with Polaski?
