Advice for newcomer to FM (experienced with football)

Let me start by saying I am very familiar with football and football tactics (I play football, watch a ton of games) I have been playing the various FIFA games for a long time - most always in career mode. I usually pick the worst league English League 2 team I can find, and work them up to Premier League and CL glory. That being said, I've never played Football Manager, but want to get in to it.. Where should I start? (after buying the game..)
