I've never been to a con before. Would it be worth it to drive 3+ hours to attend Awesome Con?

As the title says, I've never been to a convention before, but I'm really interested in going! Although, I'm sort of afraid that I'll be walking around alone aimlessly, and the 6 hour round-trip will go to a waste.

Tl;dr: would a first timer be able to enjoy Awesome Con attending alone?
