Dota Plus Assistant is not as magical as we think it is
In the event I might be bashed, I would like to clarify that this feature is still p2w and should be part of the base game. My opinion is based off the assumption that the description provided by valve for these features is accurate and they are not doing anything extra behind the scenes.
TL;DR: As per my understanding of the d+ assistant features. It is not a big deal to replicate the whole thing into a tool which is still practically usable without overwhelming users with manual inputs. D+ assistant is just a QoL implementation of that hypothetical tool.
(By saying a feature can be replicated, I am claiming that the inputs/data are easily available and the problem is a standard machine learning/statistics problem)
When I say the assistant is not magical, I mean that the same features can be replicated using existing data and even without the seamless integration with the game, be practically usable by the player.
Hero picking helpers is one such example. They don't require a lot of effort to use (manual input of hero picks) and has access to the same data as valve (past public matches). Lane strategy also seems to be using the hero picks and past game data.
Item suggestion is a controversial feature but if we are to believe the description, the suggestions are based on "your lane selection and items you purchased so far". Along with past public match data, this feature is using pretty limited inputs (current hero, current items, lane) and can be easily replicated. They don't seem to be using any other real-time information from the current match.
Ability suggestions description says it uses "hero lineups, the lane you are in, and which abilities you've already selected". These manual inputs along with the past public match data seem to be the only thing ability suggestions seem to be using and can be practically replicated.
Death Summary and real-time networth stats are something I cannot justify.
