Two people sharing gamecenter account

So my son and I both play and were sharing a gamecenter account, unbeknownst to us (since we don't use it for literally anything else). Today I had to restore my phone from an itunes backup and lo and behold, Clash didn't restore. I contacted support who told me there was nothing they could do because we had two accounts sharing a GC account.

Has anyone been able to get them (or are they even able to) to move a clash account to a new gamecenter account? Would really hate to lose a year plus of playing, but have been told I'd have to delete my son's clash account in order to get mine back (not about to do that)
