Linda Turner

Character

#Linda Turner

Date of Birth

February 3rd, 2004

Appearance

Linda stands at 4”7, weighing about 80 pounds. She has no real muscles, as she is a tiny 13 year old who spends most of her time writing and reading. She has brown eyes and small glasses, shoulder-length black hair, and a fairly small nose. Her hair is naturally curly, and is usually a bit messy and undone. She almost never wears makeup, and prefers to wear large baggy jackets alongside jeans.

Personality

Linda is quiet, timid, and loving. She approaches the world as an outsider most of the time, yet isn't afraid to make friends. Rather, she is content with her books and writing. Linda loves to learn, read, and dive deep into her writings and journals. She is easily frightened, and tends to lock up when put into high-stress situations, or close up and dive into her journal rather than fight back. She will try to be helpful or nice wherever she can afford to be, however.

Background

Linda was born on the east coast of America on September 18th, 2003. Her parents had her, and then two boys within the next two years. Her father is a realtor, and her mother a nurse. For the first few years of her life, everything went relatively normal. Linda’s parents loved each other, loved Linda, and generally seemed to be going in the right direction.

But sadly, life can’t be perfect all the time. Her parents began to argue as her father grew to be more and more of a drunkard. He was stressed from his work, as his chances of a promotion grew further and further away from his grasp. These arguments never escalated into physical contact, but the fear always remained. Linda’s mother tried her best to provide her and her siblings with at least one stable and loving parent. The task of juggling three kids, working as a nurse, and arguing with an alcoholic husband caused Linda’s mother to constantly be exhausted, but she never gave up on helping her kids through everything.

At this point in Linda’s life, she had grown accustomed to hiding in the back and staying quiet. Quite frankly, it’s hard not to remain fearful and quiet whenever your dad is yelling at your mother, filling himself up with alcohol, and generally being a douchebag. Linda didn’t let that stop her from pursuing her passions in life, and it definitely didn’t stop her mother from encouraging her. Linda escaped the awkwardness of social interactions that she didn’t know how to handle by writing and reading.

Linda always was writing or reading. At any chance or on anything, she would write out her fantasies on anything that was within her grasp. Her walls were covered with her various short stories, thoughts, or even just random things she thought were funny. On her tenth birthday, Linda’s mom decided to put a stop to Linda turning her wall into a scrapbook. As Linda opened the presents that mostly her mom had bought, a gasp escaped her lips. A leather bound notebook, alongside two engraved pens. One read “A compliment is like a kiss through a veil.", the other “ In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities.”. These were both sayings that her mother used quite often, whether it be to keep herself sane or encourage her kids.

From here on, Linda grew deeper into her journalism and writing. She would constantly write, whether it be free time or time she should be dedicating to something else. Any thoughts, short stories, or general views on how her life was going went into the journal. Essentially, when Linda got this journal, she lost mostly any chance at a social life.

Linda didn’t mind that, though. When she wrote, she got an escape from the hardships of her life. It helped her tune out any yelling from her father. It helped her focus on school when she needed a break from everything. And most importantly, it helped her grow as a person. But this short time of ecstasy and loving life didn’t last long.

The call arrived at her home phone on 10:24 AM, on November 26th 2015. A gun was brought out by the teacher of her youngest brothers classroom, which he used to shoot five kids before killing himself as the authorities arrived. Linda was brought out of school by her mother, who was let out of work on the basis that her son’s class was shot up.

Through tears, Linda’s mother informed her of the fact that her brother was shot in the head. He was the third child of five to die. It was surreal to her, quite frankly. After her early life was spent hiding and hoping that her father wouldn’t hurt her, Linda was hoping for a break.

She got the opposite of this in every sense of the word.

Book Memorization

Whenever Linda reads an entire book, from cover to cover, she may have it completely memorized forever from them on. If she even excludes a single sentence from her reading of the book, Linda will only remember the book like your average person will. This does not mean that she may instantly recall any information she has memorized, but it does mean that with focus she may recall the information when the need arises.

Paper Manipulation

Linda may manipulate and change the shape and temperature of any forms of paper. She may apply 35 MJ in 1 second to any paper within 500 feet, and may apply 20 MJ at one time to a single sheet of paper, with the maximum speed being 1000 m/s. She may control between 15-20 non-sharp pieces of paper or 2-3 pieces of sharpened paper, and once the high amount of energy is applied she will lose control of the paper, turning it into an effective projectile until it stops moving or hits it's target. She may heat up the paper she is controlling to 300 Fahrenheit, and cool it to as low as -100 Fahrenheit. She may condense paper and expand it with a limit of 375 kJ/mm2, and can make it sharp enough/thin enough to cut normal human flesh with relative ease.

She may normally control paper within her effective range, only being able to move the paper with a speed limit of 100 mph. This is outside of her projectile papers.

Journalism Dimension

Linda has an indestructible journal that she carries everywhere with her. Whatever she writes on the pages of it will come true inside an infinite, flat expanse of land entered by stepping onto, or touching the pages while willingly wanting to enter the pocket dimension. The landscapes have no limit and no end, and may contain anything short of sapient beings, which will either be swapped in for an automaton (essentially a mindless NPC of sorts) or a plush/stuffed replica. You may bring weapons and items in, and bring out items that you already brought in back out. However, you may not take out any items that are created in the pocket dimension by Linda's writings.

Linda may remove anyone from the pocket dimension with a thought, and they may not be allowed to enter through the journal if Linda does not want them inside. If someone receives enough damage to be knocked out or killed while inside the pocket dimension, they will be placed outside the journal or at the nearest point where they can be fit, in an unconscious state.

Every year on Linda's birthday, the world inside the journal will reset. The words on the journal will remain and simply not affect the world inside. Once Linda has filled up all of the pages of her journal, she may choose a new blank journal to replace it. She may summon the journal to her hands at any point if it gets lost, and it has a pen attached to it at all times.

Physicals

Linda has entirely normal human strength, durability, and movement speed, however she has 15ms reaction times and a combat speed of 200 m/s

Skills

  • Linda is obviously very smart and spends most of her time reading, therefore knowing quite a lot of odd or uncommon knowledge off the top of her head.

  • Linda can write wonderful poetry, stories, and journal entries. She has a wonderful way with words whenever she isn't struck with her shyness.

  • Linda is great with other kids and toddlers.

Weakness

  • Linda has next to no true physicals, and if caught by an attack can be quite easily dispatched.

  • Linda can very easily lock up and either run or completely shut down if put into a situation too stressful or high-risk for her.

  • Linda doesn't have much street knowledge, as she is a twelve year old girl raised in a rich white neighborhood.

Feats

  • Meticulously recreated her entire neighborhood in her journal to play a trick on her brother.

  • Wrapped a mans arm in spare pieces of paper, then burnt the skin off of his arm by heating it up to get him away from her in the city at night.

  • Could make a paper wall thick enough to easily stop bullets.
