Brave Browser takes forever to open? New tabs don't load unless refreshed?

I run windows 7 x64. From the time I click the icon to open the browser, it takes roughly 10 seconds for the window to actually open and be usable. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, if I middle click a link and open a few tabs, when I eventually click on the new tabs, sometimes they only load half way or not at all. They'll just be a white screen and I have to reload the page to see it. Any ideas?
