Our insurance just announced that it doesn't cover anything related to developmental delays or autism. Great.

I'm in a state now, guys.

My kid has been recieving therapies for developmental delays... we are not diagnosed with autism yet, but we are going in May for the eval.

In any case, my insurance covers NONE of it. NONE. Not the diagnoses, not the therapies, not anything.

What in the actual FUCK DO YOU THINK WE ARE GOING TO DO? PAY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS? FUCK YOU.

I feel like I've just fallen down a well and I'm drowning. My stupid husband just got done talking about how great it is that we have some pittance saved for retirement the other day. I have always known that you are one diagnosis away from bankruptcy, because AMERICA IS GREAT. We have that diagnosis, and will proceed to empty our savings to keep our kid from failing at life.

Good thing our school loan payments are less than our mortgage! Oh, wait. They fucking are NOT.

UPDATE!!! - It actually worked out! After the insurance company kept our therapist on the phone for three hours, telling her all these lies about what wasn't covered and why, and how the law doesn't apply to self0funded plans, and this and that, and how she had to fill out reams of paperwork for the appeal, and then me going totally apeshit for 24 hours, collecting information, driving over to the school district, talking to easterseals, calling the state insurance department, calling all the people you all recommended, considering quitting my job and everything else, my husbeast randomly calls the insurance company again and we get a TOTALLY different story. Suddenly, all this shit is covered. They made a "mistake".

I don't know wtf was wrong with "Jason" who decided it was time to tell us all that nothing was covered, but fuck that guy. I'm thrilled that it's over, and shocked that that guy was so ignorant.
