Question about multistage amplifiers (BJT's)

For our class's design project we(individually) have to design a multistage amp (no more than 3 BJT's) to meet certain requirements. I was planning on using a CC amp as a buffer for the design, but I'm unsure of the difference between cascading a CC amp into a CE/CB amp, or to do it the other way around. I was wondering if someone could help explain it.
