Has anyone here tried playing a Tec Toy Mega Drive from Brazil on an American TV? I'm having issues with the composite signal.
When I play my Mega Drive on my US CRT I get a stable black and white picture. From what I understand this is due to Brazil's PAL-M format that I guess runs at the same 60hz as NTSC but has a different color signal. Strangely I am able to play in color on a crappy Vizio LCD TV from 2009, but I want all my old consoles to play on one TV (my CRT). There's some mods for making a European Mega Drive NTSC compatible but I'm not really familiar with modding electronics or soldering.
I tried a cheapo PAL to NTSC converter I found on Amazon but it didn't work. I'd likely just buy an American Genesis before buying anything else to get this to work but I wanted to first see if anyone here has ever had this same problem. This guide is the first thing I found that might solve this problem but I don't really need a switch, I just need my Mega Drive to play in color on my American CRT.
