What’s changed in Smite?

For a long time I played Smite everyday and was really enjoying the game, but I got kind of old for me and I ended up leaving for league to try something new. Now I have a couple hundred hours in league and I happened to see the new conquest map and it has convinced to come back at least for a little bit. The last patch I ever played was with the release of Artio, so does anyone have anything relating to large meta changes that have occurred since then, or maybe anything that I should be aware of as far as the state of the game and OP gods or items?
