San Jose FSDO is looking for DPEs

I've just received an email from FAASafety about the San Jose DPE looking for more DPEs. Given that a few of the current ones are much maligned online (we've even had a few discussions here -- I won't name names but you know who I'm talking about), and that a few years ago a bunch of them were let go without prejudice, I am wondering if anybody has the scoop on what is going on.
