8 NPCs to use in your games

I keep an enormous list of NPC names to help me when running. Periodically I like to go in, pick out a smattering of names that appeal to me, and flesh out the NPCs bearing that name a bit more. Then I just plug them into my game where needed. Here are 8 NPCs that I've fleshed out appearance and personality wise. Enjoy!

1. Meecham Brell - Meecham is a tall, thin, middle-aged human male, with brown hair that sticks out from under his wide-brimmed black hat. He has a large nose, weak chin, and a very prominent Adam's apple. His arms and legs seem slightly too long for his body. He speaks very slowly and deliberately, choosing each word with care and consideration. If he gets excited, which is rare, he will begin to stutter and stumble over his words.
2. Katala Roden - Katala is a human female in her mid-30s. She is short and very thin, almost skeletal. She has mousy brown hair, bright blue eyes, a pointy nose and thin, pale lips. Katala is a scholar, who focuses on her studies to the exclusion of most everything else. When she can actually be drawn into conversation, she tends to be extremely literal and to the point, wasting no time on pleasantries and small talk. She stares intently at whomever she is speaking to, which can be unnerving.
3. Erland Ghent - With a stern, military bearing and a suspicious, standoffish manner, Erland appears to many as the epitome of human nobility. He is fair of face, with blonde hair neatly trimmed, brown eyes, and a light, downy beard. Tall and well-built, he has caught the fancy of many at court. To their dismay, he seems to have no interest in dalliances or even courtly flirting. He has no interest in courtly intrigues or the machinations of his fellow nobles. When he speaks, he is curt and to the point, almost rude. His words are cutting and insightful.
4. Sigmar Norddahl - A woman made old before her time, both by hardships and her own pessimistic attitude, Sigmar is prone to predictions of certain doom. Every minor portent and omen is a certain signal of treachery, tragedy, or disaster. Nevertheless, she has gained a reputation as a seeress among some of the local people, and they come to her for advice and guidance. Her advice is actually quite sound and sensible, just punctuated by fatalism. Those who follow her advice and disregard the fatalism tend to do well. Sigmar is of medium height and build, but is always hunched over as though bearing a great weight on her shoulders, making her seem shorter and stouter. Her salt and pepper hair is always braided and hangs near to her knees. She scowls constantly and speaks out of the side of her mouth. Her speech is notably blunt and aggressively bitter.
5. Vedren the Sly - A lurker on the fringes of society, Vedren is a mysterious half-elf. He is always cloaked and stays near the shadows. He is short and slim, with dark hair roughly cut and brilliant green eyes. He rarely makes eye contact, preferring to keep his face hidden deep in the cowl of his cloak. His speech is flowery and flattering, though delivered in sibilant whispers. He is always working an angle, and never divulges anything without receiving something in return. His access to information is remarkable, but he parcels it out sparingly, rarely revealing the whole of it.
6. Jarvik Shieldheart - Jarvik is a supremely cheerful, if somewhat dim-witted, dwarf. He always has time for a chat, or even better a chat and a bite. Unusually for a dwarf, he is a teetotaler and rarely imbibes, save for on very special occasions. He loves to sing but has a terrible memory, so he usually can't remember all the words and tends to hum the words he can't recall. He is thick-waisted and heavily jowled, though his magnificently groomed beard conceals his jowls somewhat. His long brown hair is worn in dual braids over his broad shoulders. He is prosperous and dresses accordingly.
7. Grita Dahmen - An extremely successful merchant, Grita has the wealth and influence to behave in a manner usually reserved for nobility. She is loud and boorish and lives her life in an outsized manner. Though not conventionally attractive, she has no lack of paramours of either sex. She is tall, with a powerful, flowing build. Her luscious, dark hair; smoky, come-hither, hazel eyes; and pouty lips have left many an admirer weak in the knees and fumbling for words. When she speaks she is bold and florid, heavily rolling her Rs and calling everyone darling. She knows what she wants and pursues it relentlessly.
8. Rascha Humbert - Rascha is a pleasant, comely halfling female. She is slim and quick, with light brown, curly hair cut short. Her brown eyes dart constantly about, while she fiddles and fidgets nervously and habitually. She smiles frequently and is able to make people at ease around her. Her voice is soft and melodious, and she speaks kindly and patiently. She is whip-smart and can hold a conversation with most anyone, on an astoundingly broad array of topics. Even the most guarded speakers will find themselves confiding in her.
