Is the Simplicity portfolio still valid?
Hi UKPF,
I've read as much as I think I can of the sidebar and I think I'm ready to make the jump. I have £12-15k I'm willing to invest and I was reading The Escape Artist's Simplicity Portfolio and it appealed to me because it seemed quite sensible.
Vanguard All-World High Dividend Yield ETF (VHYL)
Vanguard FTSE Developed Europe ETF incl UK (VEUR)
Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VUSA)
Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF (VFEM)
Reading through, I was willing to take a bit more risk so my split was going to be along the lines of:
VHYL (35%)
VEUR (20%)
VUSA (25%)
VFEM (20%)
Two questions:
-
Is this a silly idea or should I just be putting all my money in Lifestrategy 100%? My longer term goal is to put invest £1000-2000 per month after this lump sum.
-
These ETFs don't seem to have the word 'Accumulation' next to them - does this mean that I have to reinvest the dividends manually?
For some context: I'm 34 - male, work in a pretty good job, but live in London (expensive).
The money is really there to try and start down the path of FI at some point (still a bit unclear, but I thought I'd dip my toe in). This is the first time I'm doing any of this. Please be gentle.
Any advice is appreciated.
