How do I transition from a career in the film industry to a career in public radio?

Hey all, I’ve been having a tough time lately trying to figure out what I want to do with my life career-wise. I’ve been working in LA for 2 years as a production assistant and assistant editor, but my time hasn’t always been the most productive. I have not had much success in the film industry outside of college internships. The nature of the LA film industry is one of all or nothing, and I cannot live my life the way that industry wants. Instead, I want to work in public radio. I think they do important work and provide meaningful conversation. I love NPR and the like, so I want to be a part of their work or something similar. I honestly don’t know where to even begin other than applying for internships and jobs at my local stations and in the public radio sphere. I was hoping someone might be able to give me advice on how to transition between careers. Any thoughts would be helpful!
