[Texas] [Music/K-4] - Goal Setting

I gave this the title 'Goal Setting' to imply a positive meaning to this post which could be misconstrued as negative.

I do not want to do this for the rest of my life. Rather, I'd prefer to move on after my 5th year (currently in my 2nd). I enjoy my work but I want more.

I want more in terms of how the day is managed, what I get to teach, and, even more importantly, WHO I get to teach. There are things I would never wish on anyone that I deal with on a regular basis because of how public education is set up.

As the title says, my subject is music, and I feel that more contemporary/relevant music deserves to be taught. Music doesn't need justification because it already IS good.

My question is two-fold: Who else feels this way? and What would you do upon leaving?

Our careers are more than a number of years taught, and I would love to hear from those of you who plan on doing what I do, and how you'd like to further your careers.
