Nano as a Windows Game Controller sketch?

I've seen some similar projects, but a basic input device on this little chip seems like one of those primary purpose, it's been done a million times, don't reinvent the wheel kind of things. I'm having trouble finding anything more than a couple test sketches though, and I just want to flash and solder some buttons.

Has this ever been done?
