I invented *pbbft* a language *pbbft* for my fantasy *pbbft* setting *pbbft* and would like *pbbft* feedback *pbbft* on it *pbbft*
Reading fantasy stories, I have a very hard time being immersed in them unless the author has gone through the effort of writing the story in the setting's own language. How, after all, can one be expected to properly portray a fantastical setting with a language like English, which is steeped in its focus on describing the real world.
Below is an excerpt from my latest epic fantasy novel, This Book is Longer Than Brandon Sanderson's as is My Penis. I'm looking for honest feedback on whether or not this language seems naturalistic for the setting, and is easy enough to pick up for the plebeian reader.
"Ow pbbft!" Natasha Armstrong Lee Mathers Way yelled pbbft, stubbing her toe pbbft on a rock pbbft in the middle pbbft of the trail pbbft. She picked pbbft the rock up pbbft, and was about to pbbft crush it in her hand pbbft when she noticed pbbft the dragon standing pbbft in the trail pbbft ahead of her, blocking pbbft her way pbbft.
The dragon pbbft was as tall as pbbft half a dozen vending machines pbbft stacked on top of one another pbbft, and was green pbbft like the pbbft dye that Natasha pbbft put in her hair pbbft every morning pbbft, to cover up pbbft her natural pbbft bio luminescent pbbft purple pbbft and pbbft black pbbft hair color pbbft. The dragon pbbft, who was not one one-thousandth as pretty as Natasha pbbft, nonetheless continued pbbft to block pbbft her way pbbft.
Natasha pbbft fluttered her demonic angle wings pbbft and sighed pbbft. "Did you pbbft put this rock here pbbft?" She asked pbbft, holding up the platinum-grey chunk of mineral material, which she ascertained to be an igneous rock for its pocked surface and ashen taste pbbft.
"Yes pbbft I did pbbft and I'm terribly sorry pbbft," the dragon said in a British pbbft accent. "As penance pbbft for this egregious pbbft transgression pbbft upon pbbft your pbbft personage pbbft, woudst pbbft thou pbbft ride pbbft me pbbft to pbbft your pbbft next pbbft destination pbbft?"
"I suppose I shall pbbft," Natasha said pbbft, and aerialed pbbft onto her new steed's back pbbft, the wind blowing sparkles pbbft out of her hair pbbft as she invertedly cascaded through the air pbbft. Midair, she crushed pbbft the rock between her hands pbbft, and when she pulled her hands apart again pbbft the rock had become a rainbow collar pbbft fit for a dragon pbbft. When she landed on the dragon pbbft, her aura pbbft made it grow ten times as large pbbft, and it turned its scales from green pbbft to a black deeper than the depression that Natasha had faced for the first thirty minutes after her pet hamster had died at the onset of her quest pbbft. "I will name you Hammy II pbbft," Natasha declared pbbft.
"That is the best pbbft name I have ever pbbft heard pbbft! You are so pbbft wise pbbft Natasha Way pbbft!"
Natasha knew this to be true pbbft, but pretended that it wasn't pbbft, so that she would not spur jealousy pbbft in the other members of her party pbbft, who had been so pbbft overwhelmed once again pbbft by her presence that pbbft they had not pbbft said or done anything at all pbbft since Natasha pbbft stubbed her toe pbbft on that fateful pbbft rock pbbft in the middle pbbft of the trail pbbft.
