Recording live performance.

I want to record my live show! although we have an xr18 i think our electro-acoustic instruments make it crucial to record the sound from the room/speakers to mix with the daw (we have acoustic guitar electric violin, mandolin, banjo with pickups beside the electric bass drums and voice channels). what are the specifics and the placement of a mic to do so. (will a akg c1000s do a enough job? how and where should i put it) thx!
