I anonymously reported domestic abuse in my building
I’m not sure if I helped or what but there was a couple obviously and very loudly hashing something out, it got violent. I could hear things being thrown around people crying in pain and screaming at each other for 20 minutes. It was in the building I live in, and I didn’t want to be involved or outed so I stayed anonymous. The 911 dispatcher seems frustrated with me for it, and made me believe there wouldn’t be an officer coming. Thankfully they did.. I heard that couple leaving the building later, cussing out [me] for calling the cops.
Look.
If I hear people screaming and saying “I’ll kill you, I’m going kill you” 2 minutes after I heard what sounded like battery and accusations of biting each other, I’m going to call the cops. I don’t want people getting hurt, especially if it was escalating, which it seemed it was.
It’s a hard call to chose to call or not.. but I try to. Because I’ve been that girl, and no one ever called for me. I know that sometimes police involvement isn’t helpful. But I think at the very least, they maybe could recognize how serious the fight was in a way like.. people called the damn cops. Your fight was crazy enough for that. So do something. Either get out or figure it out. Ya know?
Ugh. I just feel weird about it.
