Can somebody help me figure out if I can fit whale baleen into a new Chevy Suburban?
Long story short, I have to pick up 6 old pieces of Alaskan bowhead whale baleen from a museum that is several hundred miles away. The baleen plates (pieces) may be up to 3 meters long - the museum curator isn't sure and they're at an offsite storage facility so he can't go measure them easily, but older bowheads can have baleen up to 3m long and these pieces might be from older whales.
Baleen is very skinny, light, long and somewhat flexible. (somewhat flexible meaning, I can't curl it up totally, but I can bend the pieces in a big arc) In my own car I usually take off the right passenger seat headrest and put baleen diagonally, arcing over the front right passenger seat so that they extend from the very right front corner of the vehicle to the very left back corner. But this time I have to use a university vehicle, and what they have available is a new Suburban, but it's not available for measurements right now. I looked up the specs on Chevy's website but they don't have a corner-to-corner diagonal measurement that includes the front seat area.
Can anybody who has a Chevy Suburban tell me if a long, very skinny, somewhat bendable, 3-meter-long object would fit into the vehicle? (3m = ~10 feet)
Many thanks!
