Advice on creating a Summon Lesser Aberration spell variant [Homebrew]
I am running a Great Old One warlock in a 5e campaign. The Summon Lesser Demon spell is exactly the kind of high risk, reckless spell that my character would use. However, I find summoning demons to not be very flavorful for a GoO warlock, and more befitting of a Fiend warlock.
My solution was to simply replace the text "demon" with the text "aberration" in the spell description (as well as finding a suitable replacement for the vial of 24hr old blood material component). The only problem is that 5e does not appear to offer a very compelling list of aberrations in the CR 1/4, CR 1/2, or CR 1 category.

For CR 1/4, there is only the Ixitxachitl, which has a movement speed of 0 and a swim speed of 30 ft. After initially being turned off to this creature, the thought of summoning 8 floundering creatures with no movement speed kind of seems both appropriate and hilarious. Maybe give them a 5ft flounder speed though to improve their effectiveness as AOE terrain hazards?

For CR 1/2, there is only the Gazer. While I like the creature, our DM might not appreciate managing 4 of these guys during an encounter. Probably wouldn't be the end of the world, but something simpler would be nice I suppose.

For CR 1, there is nothing.
Any ideas on how I might make this idea viable? Any good recommendations for appropriate CR monsters that might be easily re-fluffed into fitting the roles? Seems like there are a few demons/devils that could be re-skinned, but I didn't know if there was something better I might be missing. Has anyone home-brewed some aberrations that might be suitable?
This is all pending DM approval, but I wanted to take him a solid idea and list of monsters for the re-imagined spell.
