Can we seriously talk about the UK/AUS RT Stores?
I know this conversation gets brought up a lot, but ultimately it seems to go nowhere. It's massively frustrating to have all these fantastic merch drops that are inaccessible for foreign markets unless you wanna pay exorbitant customs fees on top of high shipping costs. There's so much stuff RT makes that's literally begging for me to throw my money at, but it's impossible to justify considering the price is doubled in customs fees (speaking from a UK perspective here, I don't know if other countries have the same issues).
I feel like the UK store has maybe been updated three or four times in the past six months, and none of those updates have included channel merch. I can't imagine channels like SP7 and Cow Chop are very happy that they're losing out bigtime on international merch sales (despite having designated stores that should support them) because RT refuse to pull their finger out when it comes to this stuff.
The apparent roadblock to getting more merch in the international stores is that since switching suppliers in the US, RT haven't been able to find equivalent international suppliers. Whenever this question arises, they always respond that "they're working on it". It's been months of "working on it" now with zero apparent progress, and it's really starting to feel like RT just doesn't give a shit. I don't understand why it isn't a possibility that they continue using the current shirt supplier they had for previous UK releases. It may not be up to the quality of the US one, it may not accommodate all the designs with extra printing, and it may be a little more expensive, but I can't fathom why they at least wouldn't go along with it for the time being until they find a better supplier. At least then international folks can buy merch without having to sell their kidney to afford it. We may not get all the designs, but we'd at least get some and RT would at least make more money off of it, because I can't imagine they're making much off the UK store in its current lifeless state.
Or ship in bulk designs from the US to the UK to be then sold from the UK store. Again, I know this would be more expensive for RT, but I'd rather they raise their prices in the UK and I pay them directly rather than having the extra burden of having to pay my own customs duties. I'm aware that this probably sounds like an entitled first-world problems 101 post, but as a massive RT fan who'd love to support them through merch but who really can't justify ordering from the US on a student budget, it's incredibly frustrating to have to miss out on so many fantastic merch drops, and it's very disappointing to see how little RT apparently care.
