What are your best "mental" weight loss/exercise tips? As in, how to "think like a thin person"?

So, like many of us beginners, I know what I should do to lose weight; I have researched every diet out there and have plenty of gymbro friends with encyclopedic memory when it comes to exercise... my problem is, I don't "think like a thin person" when it comes to food. My entire family has always been kind of food-obsessed; they "live to eat" instead of "eat to live" as my grandma says. How do I turn this around?

a bit of background: I developed BED at age 13 and am now 20. I have struggled on and off with "emotional eating" for the better part of those 7 years, but reading Brain over Binge helped me see that it had far more to do with the way I was viewing my eating habits, rather than some uncontrollable force driving me to eat. That has allowed me to gain considerable control over my eating habits, but now I'm wondering what other "mental tricks" there are out there that I'm not implementing.

So, tell me; for those of you who have struggled with this and overcame/are overcoming it, what worked for you?
