Managing net carbs- Advice for someone just starting out.

Hi keto crew. I'm a real noobie at this, and the entire concept really speaks to me and I can get behind all of the studies and the science behind why this is something that could actually work for me, with little effort which is something no other diet attempt ever gave me the opportunity to do.

But now the practicality of all of this isn't making sense. Reading through the FAQs and other instruction, 20 grams net carbs is the goal, right? Well after going over all of my favorite foods that were going to be my go-to's on this diet, I see that will not be the case at all. I enjoy cottage cheese, but my normal breakfast of 8 oz and I'm already at 10-12 net carbs over half my limit for the day. I'm italian, and tomatoes and garlic are staple vegetables, but a full tomatoe has 5 net carbs? Every clove of garlic has ONE net carb??! Huh? I guess what I'm trying to say is to keep myself sane and my body nourished I can not see how it's feasible to limit yourself to 20 carbs a day, after seeing all of the different vegetables and cheeses lined up next to their net carb counts. They add up. That seems like boarder line eating disorder status limiting your body to that.

I guess I need help, talk me off the edge. Are there free foods with no net carbs that are high in protein and fat? What's the magic food? Are there meal plans out there floating around that have a 20 net carb ceiling that i can follow and see if I can do that? Right now if I'm making my own meal plans I will always end up in th 35-50 net carb range which is OK but from what i can read not where i want to start out.

Thanks in advance, sorry if this is recurring noob stuff but I don't have a success story yet I just want to do this and I want to do it right.
