Anyone else loathe the ever living eff out of shift bids?

I was never advised when being hired at the company I worked for that shift bids were a requirement until the end of training. They neglected to tell us of that fact. and now every 6 months i have to flip my life upside down if someone decides its my turn to have the shit shift. Im at a point where I'm going to present my sup with a not from a doctor stating i cant work past 5pm due to night time sight problems. Lol
